Williams was expected to make his bow against Super League strugglers Leigh Centurions on Thursday, but that match has been postponed with several of the international halfback's new teammates having returned positive virus tests.
It sets up a potentially mouth-watering clash against Wigan next Wednesday - Williams' old club which he turned down before joining Warrington on a rich three-and-a-half year deal.
"Warrington, who have a number of players still unavailable following positive Covid tests which led to the postponement of their last fixture against Hull KR scheduled for July 11, had a further positive test today which takes them to a total of nine players ruled out, one of whom is a close contact and therefore also required to isolate," a Rugby Football League statement read.

"The Covid Fixture Protocols state that a club can apply for a postponement if they have seven or more of their 25 best-paid players ruled out as a result of Covid-19.
"The clubs will now liaise with the RFL about a possible rearrangement of the fixture - although the Betfred Super League table will again be determined by win points percentage to allow for the possibility of not all fixtures being fulfilled."
