Two of Gungahlin United's young stars are off to the USA to start the next chapter of their soccer careers.
Fullback Brigitte Sander will join Concord University's NCAA Division two program while forward Jade Brown will be heading to East Central Mississippi's Junior College program.
Sander is set to leave in August, just in time for preseason training, while Brown will finish year 12 in Canberra before heading to her new college at the start of 2022.
"I'm going over by myself, I think that will be good though, new challenges I guess and help me grow as a person and the coach is really lovely, so I've got a good community network over there," Sander said
"It's going to be really sad because I started [at Gungahlin] when I was 15.
"I came across by myself from another club, CUA, and I thought it was going to be really difficult to find new people and start over with a new coach."
Brown was also looking forward to the next stage of her soccer journey.
"Picking a college overseas was kind of just my next step, just to see how it goes, it's just a new pathway for me, a new experience and a really good opportunity." Brown said.
"It hasn't always been on my mind, I think only recently after a couple of girls have gone over that I've thought that maybe it's a possibility for me.

"I never thought I would get a scholarship. It's not always been on my mind but I'm really thankful that I have one now, I think it will be a really fun experience.
"I'm very nervous but very excited at the same time. I still have Briggie [Sander] and some other girls who have gone to colleges I can message if I need help with anything which is good.
"The coach is really nice, he has a very similar coaching style to what we are doing now which I really like. I've spoken to a couple of the girls over at the school and they seem really lovely and welcoming as well."
