Now Canberra junior Tom Green is in the hunt to add his name to a star-studded list of AFL Rising Star winners, but he faces stiff competition.
Melbourne young gun Luke Jackson is tipped to claim the award, but hot on his heels are the likes of Green and Port Adelaide forward Mitch Georgiades.
The AFL Awards will be held on Thursday night with the game's governing body announcing a consolidated built for broadcast program with winners participating remotely.
Marist College export Green secured his Rising Star nomination - his second in 14 AFL games - in round nine as he racked up 24 disposals and kicked a goal against reigning premiers Richmond.

"It was nice for a Monday morning," Green said earlier this year following his nomination.
"It would have been nicer for it to come after a win but it's nice nonetheless.
"We're starting to get really good synergy and especially myself as a young player, I'm starting to get a great feel for how I fit in in the midfield and how we play together."
But Green has been sidelined with a hamstring injury since the Giants' round 20 defeat at the hands of Port Adelaide at the beginning of the month.
The 20-year-old is pushing to make his return for the Giants in an elimination final against the Sydney Swans in Launceston on Saturday.
Both sides are riding a wave of momentum into the finals but only one will stay alive beyond this weekend in a make or break showdown in Tasmania.
Thursday night's awards will recognise the next generation via the Rising Star and AFL Coaches Association Best Young Player during Thursday night's broadcast.
But the crown jewel will be the All-Australian team, which will be unveiled alongside the AFL Coaches Association Champion Player and Coleman Medal winner Harry McKay from the Carlton Blues.
