The 31-year-old Canberran is one of only five performers on the team of British superstar Rita Ora.
For Monday night's performance, Halimah has ditched the pants and denim jacket of the blind auditions, and donned a showstopping gown, creating a glamorous, old-world look.
And now she has found herself in the finals, up against 19 others across four teams. She secured her place in the finals with a soulful performance of the Aretha Franklin classic Respect.
"I was completely shocked to get through to the top five," she told us.
"Rebecca and Irena gave such an amazing performance of the song. I am really excited to work a lot closer with Rita. This is a once in a lifetime opportunity and I am so grateful for that. I am looking forward to seeing what song Rita will choose for me and how we can work together to bring the song to life!"
And Respect was a fav even before the show.
"It is such a classic! Still another big, bold song and for me I think the best way to sing it is in its original form," she said.
The former Radford College student has definite hopes for her time under Rita's wing.
"I really hope to improve my commercial feel to my voice and performance. I think Rita being one of the most popular female pop artists in the music scene; she will have the right tools to guide me in the right direction," she said.
And Rita has suggested she wants Halimah to find herself on the show. Halimah says that doesn't mean she feels in the shadow of little brother, tennis champ Nick Kyrgios.
"I don't think it's really about being in a shadow; Nick is in a completely different industry," she said.
"For me, I am trying to transition to the commercial/pop scene, so it does take some time and guidance to find exactly what you are looking for.
"I know Rita back in the day was a trained musical theatre girl and during her journey she explored many different vocal styles until she found what worked for her."
- The Voice continues 7pm Sunday and 7.30pm Monday on Prime7 and 7plus.
