Ms Latimore was reported missing from Koumala, south of Mackay, on August 18.

Police found a body on Sunday afternoon when they searched a rural property where she'd been staying with family members.

Forensic tests have since confirmed the remains are Ms Latimore's.

Police have released few details about the case, but it's suspected she was murdered.

Detectives from the Mackay criminal investigation branch and the homicide investigation unit are investigating her death.

Police have appealed for anyone who had any form of contact with Ms Latimore in recent times to come forward.

They also want to hear from anyone with information about the suspicious movement of people or vehicles in the Koumala and Ilbilbie areas from August 8 to 11, suggesting she may have been dead for some time before she was found.

Detective Inspector Tom Armitt has said the property where the body was found belonged to Ms Latimore's family for "quite some time".

But he said it was recently sold, so recently that the family was yet to vacate the site.

The property is more than 240 hectares in size and consists of cattle grazing land, dense bush and rainforest.
