ACT Emergency Services Agency crews were called out to 17 storm-related incidents, mostly due to leaking roofs.
A spokesman for the agency said the requests for help were fairly spread out across Canberra, with the damage not confined to one particular area of the territory.
Crews went sent as far north as Moncrieff, right down to Mawson to help deal with minor flooding and fallen trees.
The spokesman said most of the jobs were resolved relatively quickly.
"We're expecting most of the rain to fall this weekend to be on Saturday," he said.
"We are encouraging people to make sure that their property is storm-safe."
Canberra recorded more than 25 millimetres of rain on Saturday.
Further showers are expected throughout the rest of the weekend, including on Father's Day.
Forecaster at the Bureau of Meteorology David Wilke said the rain had been widespread across the ACT and into parts of NSW.
"The weather has been caused by a cold front, and that has directed quite a bit of rain through the ACT," he said.
"The rain will ease on Sunday, but we'll still see showery weather, but not as persistent as Saturday."
Sunday's forecast also had the potential to bring thunderstorms across Canberra.
"It will be cooler and windier with a cooler blast coming through," Mr Wilke said.
Up to six millimetres of rain is forecast for fall in the capital on Sunday, most likely to fall during the morning, with temperatures set to reach a high of 13.
However, the weekend's rain is set to clear to sunnier conditions for the rest of the week.
After an expected chilly start of just zero degrees, Monday's temperature is expected to reach 16.
Maximum temperatures throughout the week are forecast to remain in the high teens, before reaching 20 degrees on Friday.
