The arrival of the objects had happened in two stages, with bedding such as quilts, pillow covers, and sheets arriving on one day and larger furniture appearing the next - including an iron bedstead with its wire base, and a large roll of new carpet.
The home owner, Mr Jock Bigg, was perplexed as to why the bedroom contents had appeared on his driveway in the first place, and to whom they belonged.
His neighbour, who had been looking after the house in Mr Bigg's absence, had noticed the initial arrival of bedding on the driveway and had taken it inside the house under the assumption it all belonged to Mr Bigg. That same assumption could not be made of the following day's arrival of the bed frame and carpet. Mr Bigg spoke with residents who lived nearby, but got no closer to locating the bedroom owner.
He moved the items into his shed to shield them from rain and left his number in The Canberra Times so the rightful owner could contact him, preferring for the bedroom to be returned to its owner.
