There are only 10 more days to go until Canberra's restaurants and cafes can open their doors again and diners are already planning ahead. From October 15, venues can welcome in-house guests; sure, density limits will apply and capacity will be reduced in most places, but the light at the end of the tunnel is growing brighter by the day.

Make a booking now, support local, and maybe try one of these fun things to pass the time until you can head out on the town.
Rebel Rebel
It will be hard to get into this New Acton favourite when doors open. Understandably they're reducing hours to start with, not opening Mondays and Tuesdays; from noon to late, Wednesday to Friday; and 9am til late on weekends. Order some RR@home, with the full menu and a substantial drinks list and give yourself a taste of what you've been missing out on.
Muse Canberra
An early start at Muse, with doors open from 7am on October 15. If you've been hanging out for a good breakfast or brunch then make a booking now. Muse has remained closed during lockdown but we've been craving its big breakfast. Eggs, bacon and all the trimmings are never the same when you're making it at home but do that one last time. Try our recipes in today's edition and cook up a hearty start to the day.
Masterclasses
In the lead up to World Mental Health Day on October 10, Plate It Forward has teamed up with Facebook and an epic lineup of chefs to run an Instagram and Facebook live cook-up every day this week. Join Andy Allen, Jock Zonfrillo, Justine Schofield, Vincenzo's Plate and Shaun Christie-David and cook along at home, learn a new cuisine, and practice mindful cooking. Plate it Forward, a social enterprise committed to tackling hunger and employment insecurity in Australia, will then deliver 3000 plates of each dish to vulnerable people across Sydney to complete the circle. Get the recipes online and tune in.
Virtual wine tasting
A few local wineries are offering online tastings so settle in and enjoy one before we can head out of town. Lake George Winery, Lark Hill Winery, Sapling Yard, Lerida Estate and Mt Majura among them. So too is Contentious Character, where a fun night is always guaranteed. The next one is October 15, where winemaker Jeremy Wilson will lead you through six wines. They come in cute little 150ml pouches which are delivered to your door. Book now before it sells out.
Binge watching
Two of our favourite MasterChef alumni, Adam Liaw and Poh Ling Yeow, are joining forces as they explore their Malaysian heritage on a flavour and laughter-filled adventure in Adam and Poh's Malaysia in Australia which premieres on Thursday, October 7, at 8.30pm on SBS Food.
Malaysia, like Australia, is an electrifying mix of cultures, ethnicities and aromas. So, both sharing Malaysian heritage and an Australian upbringing, the two friends are hitting the road to explore what makes the two countries such great mates and find inspiration for Malaysian dishes here on home soil.
Much of Malaysia and Australia's long and friendly history revolves around food, but Adam and Poh discover across six episodes that there's a whole lot more to the relationship than laksas and lattes.
Adam and Poh are on a mission to find the freshest Australian produce.
Along the way, they'll pick up expert tips from local farmers, Malaysian expats and even a Hollywood superstar, to serve up mouth-watering Malaysian dishes with a unique Aussie twist!
