Initially scheduled for November 2021, the fun run will not go ahead as the ACT faces restrictions on events during its effort to contain a Delta strain COVID outbreak.
The good news is that runners can use the extra time to get marathon-fit, with The Canberra Times Marathon to take place on April 10, 2022.
For those not quite ready for the marathon, the event will also host a half marathon, as well as 10 kilometre, 5.4 kilometre race, and 2 kilometre runs.
Sole Motive race director Julie Tedde said there wouldn't be any changes to the course from previous years.
"We're obviously really excited to be able to be bringing that event back to Canberra," she said.
Ms Tedde said the event would offer an opportunity all types of runners to get involved.

"So something that's quite easy: people start walking, and then they end up running. And then obviously, you've got your community of people who are established runners and have been really starved of marathons.
"It is a highlight, and we see people will obviously be keen as anything to get back in."
