"God bless all public servants" - so said the billboard outside the Immanuel Woden Valley Lutheran Church in Lyons this week.
The sign - which has prime real estate facing Melrose Drive - often has pithy messages that also capture the zeitgeist.
"We try to," Pastor Tim Muller said.
The church had working and retired public servants as part of its congregation and the message was a shout-out to them.
"It's a way to honour them," he said.
Tim said the message wasn't explicitly for the COVID response by public servants, but it could be taken as that.
"It wasn't the first thought but I can see it is important," Tim said.
The church is livestreaming its services but parishioners will be able to worship in person under the relaxed restrictions from October 29, like all places of worship.
