There are lots of ways to transform a spare bedroom. A home office, guest room or storage room are popular conversions, but not many would consider creating a dedicated 'glam room' like one Canberra couple have done.

Ian and Di Bakon have completed an extensive renovation on their Turner apartment that they purchased in 2016 for $510,000.
The home now features a walk-in wardrobe inside one of the two bedrooms, complete with a built-in dresser, storage and display cabinets for accessories and pull-out drawers for 70 pairs of shoes.
The apartment, located inside the Avenue development at 118/77 Northbourne Avenue, Turner, is slated for auction in November and has a price guide upwards of $590,000.

Having downsized from a five-bedroom home in North Queensland, Ian, who is a builder, and Di, a public servant, lived in their "cookie cutter" two-bedroom home for a year before deciding to renovate.
"With a background in the building industry, we have always had the luxury of living in homes that we have either built or renovated," they said.
"The things we really missed the most about our house were storage, the mod cons and identity."
Selling agent Aaron Lewis of Independent Property Group said the renovation is unlike anything he's seen.
"I think there's very few people who are willing to renovate apartments," he said.
"These particular owners have a background in renovations so for them it wasn't scary ... they literally gutted the entire apartment."
Custom-built cabinetry fills each of the rooms and there's a designated spot for everything, even the vacuum cleaner.
"The attention to detail is just phenomenal," said Mr Lewis.
"The TVs are custom-size to fit in their relative spots, the vacuum cleaner - the Roomba - has its own home, the wine fridge is custom-fit."
The couple weren't intending to flip the apartment, instead they were creating their ideal home. Ms Bakon said she's unsure how much money was spent on the renovation in total, as it was done bit by bit.
"We just spent our weekends doing small things around the house, things that didn't disrupt our living so much," she said.
Due to the custom design of the apartment all appliances are included in the sale, including the refrigerator, microwave, wine fridge, washing machine and dryer. Together the appliances are worth more than $30,000.
Ms Bakon said the decision to include appliances in the property was around offering convenience for the next owners.
"I think, specifically with the apartments, it's really hard to get fridges and things delivered up the stairs," she said.
While some might think a second room is best left as a bedroom, Mr Lewis said the unique design will appeal to a house-proud professional or couple who appreciate extra space.
"The amount of properties I see where [owners] don't use the second bedroom or they call it the junk room, whereas this is a custom clothing room," he said.
"Yeah there'll be some people who want a second bedroom but this [will appeal to] people who are buying the size of a second bedroom but it's customised to their lifestyle and how they actually want to use the space."
