An officer on the scene said the grey car hit the police vehicle.
As a precaution two people with "superficial injuries" have been transported to hospital, ACT policing said.
Parts of Condamine and Forbes Streets will be partially closed for a few hours, and a number of police cars were still on the scene on Tuesday, October 19 at 7.15pm.
ACT Fire and Rescue, ACT Ambulance and ACT policing attended the crash and the ACT policing crash team are expected to investigate the cause of the collision.
Correction: A previous version of this article stated the collision was on the corner of Condamine and David Street. It was on the corner of Condamine and Forbes Street.
