ACT Policing in a statement said they executed a search warrant at the home on Friday when they also found metal pipes, bags of a crystalline substance and drug paraphernalia.
The search came after a Subaru Forester failed to stop for police in Belconnen before it was later found in McKellar.
When checking the car, officers saw a shotgun in two pieces, several shotgun shells and knives inside before they seized the items.
The man, 31, was arrested at the home and charged with unauthorised possession of firearms, unauthorised manufacture of firearms and breach of good behaviour order.
He is scheduled to appear in the ACT Magistrates Court on Saturday morning.
