They began a review into Icon Water's fees and charges at the start of the year, but they've blamed delays caused by the pandemic for slowing it down.
Thankfully the rain over the past year or so has helped ease costs for golf clubs and community ovals, but summer is just around the corner.
The past two summers have hit sports hard, with golf courses and Phillip Oval facing massive water bills.
It also played a role in McKellar Park's closure last year, which forced Canberra United to play home games at Viking Park.
Canberra has the most expensive water in Australia, and Belconnen golf course pays a higher rate for recycled water than ACT houses get charged for drinking water.
The government said they've extended their rebate scheme until the end of the year while they complete their review.
"The ACT government is currently finalising the review into non-potable water pricing," an ACT government spokesperson said.
"The report has been delayed due to resourcing impacts of the COVID-19 response and the later 2021-22 Budget, but is on track to be provided to government this calendar year.
"The rebate period has been extended to 31 December, 2021 - or until the rebate cap is met - ensuring that although the review delivery has been delayed, eligible clubs are still supported while the review is being conducted."
