The finalists for the Canberra Sports Awards were announced on Monday, with the GWS Giants midfielder named among a pool of four in the Rising Star category.
WNBL Canberra Capitals starter Jade Melbourne, 16-year-old up and coming cyclist Cameron Rogers and under-19 Australian school quad scull rower Madeline Vagg were named as finalists alongside Green.
Green, 20, said it was an honour to be named in the category.
"It's awesome to be recognised. I mean, Canberra's home and being recognised in this way as a finalist is amazing," he said.
"I love coming home to Canberra and being nominated for such prestigious thing is a great honour."
Green is up against stiff competition in the category, with Rogers riding with several under-19 national medals under his belt, Melbourne having a breakout year in her debut WNBL season and Vagg winning the Grevillea Trophy.

Tokyo Paralympians dominated the para sport category for Athlete of the Year, with rower Nikki Ayers, gold medallist Vanessa Low and dual medallist James Turner named as finalists.
Mountainbiker Bec McConnell, javelin thrower - and Tokyo bronze medallist - Kelsey-Lee Barber and freestyle skier Laura Peel are in the running for female Athlete of the Year.
In the men's Athlete of the Year, Turner is up again, alongside Tokyo silver medallist and Hockeyroos goalkeeper Andrew Charter and Olympic bronze medallist Patty Mills.
ACT Sports Minister Yvette Berry said the awards highlighted the capital's incredible sporting talent and the diverse range of sports where Canberrans excelled.
"While COVID-19 has continued to challenge Canberra's sporting community, these awards are an opportunity to recognise the amazing goals that have still been achieved in 2021, including at the Olympic and Paralympic Games, which provided many opportunities to celebrate," she said.
"The number of nominations this year demonstrates our city's passion and continued commitment to sport and recreation. I commend all our finalists for their endurance and the inspiration they provide to our community."
Finalists for the inclusion award include Capital Football's powerchair program, Rowing ACT's indoor program and Canberra Region Rugby League's wheelchair rugby program.
The Stromlo Running Festival, ACT Open for table tennis and the ACT Festival of Athletics are finalists in events, alongside a new online booking system at Woden, a women's novice track cycling program and an online little athletics program for innovation.
The winners will be announced on December 2.
