1. Spanish Fiesta
It's time for a Spanish fiesta! The vibrant streets of Barcelona come to the open fields of Pialligo Estate this week to celebrate a night full of Spanish food, music and culture. Kick back after a long week, vibe out to flamenco and feast to your heart's content with bottomless traditional and vegetarian paella. To wash it all down there is also bottomless sangria and traditional Spanish beers. The night isn't complete without dessert, so top off the evening with one of Spain's favourites, Crema Catalana. 2. Alliance Francaise French Market Day
A little bit of France comes to Canberra this weekend. Discover a wide selection of fine French products and services at the annual Alliance Francaise French Market Day including a range of cheeses, charcuterie, truffles, wines and handmade products. Make it a family outing and enjoy some French food while browsing the different stalls with a mimosa or champagne and enjoying live music. Saturday, from 10am to 3pm. Alliance Francaise de Canberra. Free event.
3. Drag Cabaret
Step into a fantasy as Drag Cabaret presents Fantastic Creatures. The evening will deliver queer creatures to delight and tantalise you with their talents, illusions and creativity. Come see flying queens, cowboy kings, non-binary sirens, and hear tales of candyland. It is guaranteed to have a storybook ending to give you warm fuzzies. Plus there are prizes available for those who come as their own fantasy. Friday, 8pm. Smith's Alternative. Tickets are $20 from smithsalternative.com.
4. Canberra Small Business Market
What started as a small boutique market in the Fitter's Workshop near the Old Bus Depot Market has now grown to take out the hall at Thoroughbred Park. Spend your Sunday exploring all of the regular local small businesses that you have come to love, plus outside there will be new hot food stalls, food trucks, a coffee van and more. Sunday, 9am to 3pm. Thoroughbred Park. Gold coin donation entry with funds going to the Canberra Pet Rescue.
5. Sip and Sketch
Join local artist Elise Miller at Flazeda Hub for an 18-plus life drawing event for all skill levels. Presented by local artist Elise Miller and hosted at Flazeda (and online via live-stream), it is designed to centre diverse bodies in art and connect artists from intersectional backgrounds. Come along with your sketch pads, and tools of choice to draw while sipping on the delicious non-alcoholic and alcoholic beverages on offer. Sunday, 5.30pm. Flazeda Hub.
