The Christmas tree is up - on City Walk near the Canberra Centre - and now the Christmas in the City campaign is due to be launched next week.
Chief Minister Andrew Barr is planning to hold a press conference on Tuesday to herald the start of festivities in the city.
An answer is also expect to the intriguing fenced-off space near the merry-go-round promising that "something amazing is on the way".
The campaign will include entertainment and a marketing campaign to entice Canberrans to celebrate in the city.
