The 32-year-old blew 0.098 in Maroochydore on September 27, a low-range reading which cost him $500 and a three-month driving disqualification after he pleaded guilty at the Magistrates Court.

A hefty fine, and games suspension from the NRL, are also expected to be announced in the coming weeks.

Rapana has since returned to Raiders pre-season training, and was at the Queanbeyan Golf Club with new signing Jamal Fogarty on Thursday in his role as ambassador for Respite Care for Queanbeyan.

The sold-out charity golf day was in memory of Respite Care for Queanbeyan founder Yvonne Cuschieri OAM, who lost her lengthy battle with illness in June.

"I'm very remorseful for what I've done and putting the club through that," Rapana said.

"I made a mistake. I went to dinner with the wife and thought I was all right and I shouldn't [have driven], and I'm going to pay the consequences for that."

Rapana, the reigning Mal Meninga medallist, had minor knee surgery during the off-season, which has given him a major boost heading into his 10^th NRL campaign.

"I honestly feel really good for a 32-year-old," Rapana said

"I've carried that knee niggle for a couple of years now. Getting that cleanout was probably the best thing for me.

"I'm definitely bouncing into pre-season and ready and excited to go."

The rest of the Raiders squad participated in a physically testing march at Molonglo Gorge on Thursday afternoon, as the club's new head of physical performance Jeremy Hickmans continues to revamp the side's pre-season program.

"He's definitely taken a different approach," Rapana said.

"The Ks [kilometres] that we were doing last year are probably nowhere near as much as what we're doing this year but we're still focused on the football side of things."
