Heavy rainfall on Thursday and Friday brought the total monthly fall to 152.6mm, surpassing the last record of 138.2mm, set in 1995, by a wide margin.

Bureau of Meteorology managing meteorologist for NSW/ACT Agata Imielska said while Canberrans wouldn't be seeing blue skies and sunshine all weekend, the rain would let up for the most part.

"As we're expecting this particular system that's been bringing this widespread rain thunderstorm activity has moved offshore," she said.

"With that, we'll see that continued easing trend in the weather for Canberra and surrounding region."

Patches of rain throughout Saturday would break up drier periods, while the chance of rain drops further on Sunday and Monday.

The La Nia system has caused flooding across parts of NSW, prompting a minor flood warning being issued in Queanbeyan on Friday.

The Queanbeyan River at Queens Bridge was expected to peak about 4.4 metres late Friday, with the bureau removing the warning on Saturday.

"What that means for Australia is that we tend to see warmer waters to north of Australia, which feeds in more moisture over eastern Australia in particular," Ms Imielska said of the La Nina system.

"We are expecting increase chances of those wetter conditions through summer."

An ACT Emergency Services Agency spokesperson said there had been 137 calls for assistance with weather-related incidents since Thursday morning.

No injuries had been reported, and most incidents were related to leaking roofs and fallen trees, the spokesperson said.
