1. Arj Barker
Does comedian Arj Barker swear to tell the truth, the whole truth and nothing but the truth? No. But he does swear while telling the partial truth and that's a whole lot more fun - for him and his audience. Australia's adopted son of comedy returns to Canberra with his brand-new hour of comedy this weekend with Arj Barker Comes Clean. Be prepared for some home truths, some vague truths and some information none of us are ready to hear when Barker takes to the stage. Friday, 8pm. Canberra Theatre Centre. Tickets from $54.90 from canberratheatrecentre.com.au.
2. Daniel Champagne
Daniel Champagne heads to The Street this weekend. The young virtuoso, recently described as "the finest guitar player of this generation", first picked up his instrument of choice as a five-year-old following in the footsteps of a musical father. He began writing songs at 12, training classically throughout his teens and performing wherever he could, honing his craft and developing the dynamite live show that he is renowned for today. Friday, 7.30pm. The Street. Tickets from $33 from thestreet.org.au.
3. Geek Markets
Head to EPIC this weekend for the return of the Geek Markets. Shop up a storm - and maybe tick off some of those Christmas gift list items - as the market brings its largest selection yet of the country's best geeky makers, artists, creators and traders. There will also be some special guests in attendance for you to meet. Saturday, 10am to 4pm. Coorong Pavilion, Exhibition Park. Free but register at Eventbrite.
4. One Night Only
Impro ACT students are taking over the Smith's Alternative stage this weekend, to bring laugh-a-minute improvised games, songs, and scenes, plus some unusual physical performance styles. Students at all levels will perform a variety of spontaneous work, in three different sections. Prepare to be Unprepared will feature Canberra's newest improvisers and the EPIC and True Believers sections will see the intermediate and advanced students take to the stage. Friday, 8pm. Smith's Alternative. Tickets from $15 from www.smithsalternative.com.
5. Don't stress
When it comes to the plot of Canberra Youth Theatre's latest production, the title says it all. Two Twenty Somethings Decide Never to be Stressed About Anything Again. Ever. It follows a young couple and their desperate attempt to live the ideal Millennial lifestyle, filled with cool friends, indoor plants and home-brewed kombucha. Friday, 7.30pm and Saturday, 2pm and 7.30pm. Continues until December 14. Canberra Theatre Centre. Tickets from $30 from canberratheatrecentre.com.au.
