"This is the greatest phone call of my life," The Lott said the man exclaimed when he was told over the phone.
"This is too much money to comprehend. I've always thought a $1 million prize would be the number. I never thought of something this big."
The Lott said the man told them he looked at his ticket before he went to bed on Tuesday night.
"I actually slept quite well. It was the last thing I saw before bed, and I don't think it registered properly," he said.
"I always pick the numbers - a couple of birthdays, and then I just pick the rest randomly. Birthdays, and then just random ones in there."
The Lott said he still went to work despite winning the pot of gold.
IN OTHER NEWS:
"With everything that's happened during the past two years, being in the same place and doing the same things, now's the time to think about things, and I've certainly got a few more options now," he said.
"I'm at that point where I'm thinking I'll be working for the next 30 or more years, but now that's probably not going to happen. There will be more time off work, longer holidays and paying off the mortgage.
"This Christmas should be fun!"
There have been six division one wins in the ACT so far in 2021 worth more than $54.2 million, The Lott said.
