The new cases bring the active total to 63 with four people in hospital because of COVID-19, two are in intensive care.

There were 1845 negative tests received in the 24 hours to 9am Monday, a slight increase from Sunday's reporting which saw 1207 negative tests returned.

Meantime, the percentage of the eligible population who are now fully vaccinated has reached 98.2 per cent.

There were 536 new cases of COVID-19 in NSW and no more deaths reported in the 24 hours to 8pm Sunday.

Some 74,997 tests were recorded with the double-dose vaccination rate of those 16 and older at 93.1 per cent, while 94.8 per cent of people have had their first jab.

Victoria has reported 1290 new COVID-19 infections and a further two deaths, as new research found three people in Melbourne contracted the virus for a second time.

The state is now managing 11,649 active cases despite 92 per cent of residents aged 12 having got two doses of a COVID-19 vaccine.

There are 323 patients in hospital, 77 of whom are actively infected with the virus in intensive care and 40 needing ventilation.

The seven-day hospitalisation average sits at 312.

Meanwhile, Queensland has opened its borders to fully vaccinated people after nearly five months of being locked out.
