The 32-year-old won her second world championship title in March with a triple twisting, triple backflip and is aiming to go one better at next month's Games.

If she can pull off a quadruple twisting triple backflip, she will join US skier Ashley Caldwell in the history books as the only two women to nail the jump in competition.

"Right now we're still in pre-season, so we're still building up our jumps," she said.

"I'm not at the ultimate level of difficulty that I'm looking for but obviously, it's early days, and we've still got some time before the Olympics. So I'm going to try and build up slow and make sure it's a good progression.

"I think we'll get there again, and hopefully, we'll also go one step further than that. I'm hoping to be able to do a quadruple twisting triple backflip this year. That's the goal."

Peel skied away with silver in the 2021-22 FIS Freestyle Ski World Cup's latest aerial event. The Finland event was the last Cup event for the year, before it kicks back off on January 5.

She will have two more cup events to test the field before Beijing, but her focus will remain on her own form.

"You sort of have a pretty good idea that level of competition is going to be pretty high, so I think we already know that," Peel said.

"It's a cliche quote, but I can't do anything other than what I can do. I'll just try to focus on myself and do my best jumps."

Her form heading into the Games, alongside fellow Australian Danielle Scott, has been setting the standard for the discipline.

The dual Olympian has been to two Games, with a fifth in PyeongChang 2018 her best result.

Although Peel has not officially been selected for Australia's 2022 team, her form over the past 18 months makes that inevitable.

And if she can land the new trick at Beijing, she will be a medal favourite.

"Olympic spots will be decided in January. We'll have a pre-Olympic camp and then we'll head to China in early February. So it's going to come around really fast," she said.

"I don't have too much stress on me for getting points to qualify for the Olympics, which is a nice place to be. I had a good season last year and I got quite a lot of points, so I don't have too much stress on me in terms of qualification.

"I can just focus on my own jumps and progressing in a way that feels good for me. So that's definitely nice, it takes a bit of the pressure off."

The Beijing Games start on February 4 with the opening ceremony. The women's aerial ski event is earmarked for February 13 before the final the next day.

Both Peel and Scott will be medal hopefuls for Australia in the event.
