NSW has recorded 1742 COVID-19 cases and zero deaths after predictions the tally could soar to 25,000 infections a day next month.

The new cases were diagnosed from 143,938 tests undertaken in the 24-hours to 8pm on Wednesday.

There are 192 patients in hospital, 22 of them in ICU.

Some 94.8 per cent of people 16 and older have had one vaccine dose, while 93.3 per cent are fully jabbed.

Victoria has recorded another nine deaths from COVID-19 and 1622 new cases.

A total of 384 people are in hospital with 87 in intensive care actively infected, 49 are on a ventilator.
