Across the capital, 252 auctions are scheduled for the week to Sunday, surpassing last week as the highest number of auctions on record according to CoreLogic.

Last week, 224 auctions took place with a 75 per cent clearance rate.

Moira Maloney of Maloney's Property said she expected house hunters to continue their searches throughout the Christmas break.

"I'm actually going to continue to work because I don't think [many] people are going anywhere or if they do, they'll keep looking [for property]," she said.

Ms Maloney said even if hopeful buyers were travelling for Christmas, online auctions would allow them to take part.

"We're doing hybrid auctions where people can either bid online or in person," she said.

Ms Maloney is due to take 12 Strzelecki Crescent, Narrabundah to auction this Saturday and is expecting it to sell for just over $1.5 million.

She said around six parties are likely to register to bid on the three-bedroom renovated cottage.

In Ngunnawal, a five-bedroom house at 6 Tanderra Crescent is also among the Saturday auction line-up.

Selling agent Kostya Logvinov of Carter and Co Agents said a number of families have shown interest in the home. It's expected to sell for around the high $1 million mark.

He said Tanderra Crescent, where the Ngunnawal house price record was recently broken, has long been recognised as "the premiere street of the suburb".

Mr Logvinov said the traditional quiet period isn't likely to occur this year, with buyer and seller activity still so strong. Carter and Co Agents are planning to host their final auction for the year on 23 December.

"Usually at this time of the year you slow down and start getting ready for the new year but it just seems like there's properties popping up everywhere, and they're all selling. There are [suburb price] records every week and big sales every week," he said.

High auction volumes are forecast across the nation this weekend. CoreLogic has reported 4880 homes are set to go to auction among the capital cities.

National volumes are slightly down on last week's record-breaking 4981 auctions, however they are more than double the number of auctions held this time last year.

Despite various lockdowns and restrictions, 2021 has overtaken 2017 as the busiest auction year on record. A total 111,928 auctions have taken place across Australia for the year to date.
