Some Canberra-based iiNet customers have reported they have been unable to access their emails since Christmas Eve.
The ISP blames the outage on a Perth heatwave.
"Some iiNet customer operations are currently impacted due to a data centre issue caused by yesterday's extreme weather event in Western Australia," the ISP posted on social media on Boxing Day at 3.13pm.
"Internet and mobile services for iiNet customers are still available and unaffected.
"Impacted services include the iiNet website and iiNet domain email services. The iiNet customer call centre is available for basic troubleshooting only at this time."
IN OTHER NEWS:
iiNet headquarters are based in Perth, where temperatures on Boxing Day reached up to 43.5 degrees - the city's second-hottest December day on record. The heatwave caused power outages to thousands of residents.
Latham resident Daniel Ciuffetelli said he had not received emails through his iiNet account since Christmas Eve.
He said his son sent a test email on Boxing Day, and when it did not arrive he called the customer service number about 9.40pm.
"I was on hold for over 30 minutes, and while on hold there was no communication about an outage," he said.
"When the call was answered I had to ask if there was an issue, only to be told that they are looking into it and it will be rectified by 3pm [on December 26]."
On Monday night, he was still unable to access emails.
Another Canberra resident in Weston Creek, who asked to remain unnamed, said he had tried to contact iiNet through Facebook Messenger, email and phone avenues, but was unable to reach customer service assistance.
"I didn't have email access for over two days. Now it seems to be working, but I lost a lot of emails including some for surveys. These surveys supplement my income, which is the [Disability Support Pension]," he said.
"I am severely disabled due to many health and mobility issues and living alone. The internet/email is my lifeline to the outside world."
