The Flames travel to Canberra amidst the ongoing fallout from their five-point season-opening loss to the Capitals, from which head coach Paul Goriss was banned for five games after accessing confidential training footage of their Sydney opponents.

Frustrated Flames head coach Shane Heal has since described the act as "cheating", while Basketball Australia has appealed an independent finding which opted not to strip the Capitals of their round one points.

Despite the headwinds still circling the club, Griffin said her teammates were only focused on celebrating Wilson's milestone.

"It's going to be a real grind, and it's probably going to be one of those where if we're in a position at the end of the game, it's probably going to be pretty ugly how we've gotten there," Griffin said.

"I've never won a championship without learning how to win ugly. I think that that's something that we're prepared for.

"We don't want that, we want to be able to run and play like we know what we're capable of. That's their gameplan usually, to get us out of our offense, slow us down, run time off the clock so we're shooting last second shots.

"It's going to be a really challenging game but if there's anything I've learned about this team over the last two months it's that we're up for a challenge."

Griffin returned from a broken nose last week to lift the Capitals to a dominant 24-point win over the Fire in Townsville, catapulting her side to equal top of the WNBL ladder.

The 34-year-old grabbed 20 points, 10 rebounds and five assists in her second match of the season.
