A social media post from Acropolis Funeral Services stated that Mr Kondilios had "peacefully passed away" on Tuesday, January 4.

"It is with great sadness that the family advise, of the passing of their son, James Peter Kondilios," the post reads.

"The family of James invite friends and family to wear some colour for James at his funeral service, as that was what he would have loved."

NSW Health on Thursday said a man in his 20s from the ACT had died at St Vincent's Hospital.

He had received two doses of a COVID-19 vaccine and had no known underlying health conditions.

ACT Health Minister Rachel Stephen-Smith extended her sympathies to the man's family and friends.

Friends and family have commemorated Mr Kondilios on social media as a great friend, hard worker and beloved member of the community.

"I am glad I spent a lot of happy time with you last year, and in your last year, it is so respected that you worked so bloody hard for our dreams," one friend wrote in a tribute on Facebook.

"The last message you sent to me was 'couldn't ask for a better friend'," he wrote.

"Likewise bro, the years I spent with you will always be a great part of my life, you will always be on my mind to delight me, encourage me and guide me."

Another posted condolences for the friends and family of Mr Kondilios in a Facebook group for ACT wrestling.

"James was a well-respected and loved member of the Canberra wrestling community. He will be sorely missed," the post read.

Sydney Uni Wrestling and Grappling club also shared an online tribute to Mr Kondilios, who was a member of the club between 2015 and 2017.

"He achieved State Championship status and medalled at National level in Greco Roman Wrestling," the club wrote.

"A great wrestler and even better human being, our thoughts and prayers are with his family and loved ones at this time."

Federal Member for Canberra Alicia Payne extended her condolences to families and friends of Mr Kondilios.

"COVID can be incredibly serious for anyone including those young, healthy and vaccinated like James. Please do all you can to stay safe," she wrote.

Mr Kondilios attended Sydney's Waverley College and later studied an advanced science degree at the Australian National University in Canberra.

He won a government grant while still completing his tertiary study, according to Waverley College's website, receiving the 2019 Forest and Wood Products Australia Award.

A LinkedIn profile for Mr Kondilios lists his most recent job as a data scientist at the Department of Social Services.
