The new cases bring the active total to 5004.
There are 24 people in hospital because of COVID, with three of them in intensive care and two being ventilated.
It comes as NSW and Victoria recorded a combined death toll of 47, a grim milestone for both states.
In December, ACT Health Minister Rachel Stephen-Smith said health authorities had before Christmas expected the hospitalisation rate to be higher by the new year. She said projections always took into account the potential impact of COVID-19 cases in the surrounding NSW region.
There were 3739 negative tests received in the 24 hours to 9am Thursday.
The percentage of Canberrans aged 18 and over who have received booster shots has reached 26.8 per cent.
Indigenous vaccination rates are still lagging behind in the ACT. Federal data suggest only 88 per cent of the estimated 5582 Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people in the ACT have had two doses, while 90.7 per cent have received one dose.
In the Queanbeyan-Palerang region, 90.3 per cent of Indigenous people are fully vaxxed. About 90.2 per cent of First Nations people in Yass Valley are fully immunised.
Just over one in 10 Canberrans aged five to 11 have had one dose of the vaccine. According to Department of Health data, 4391 of the 38,789 young people in this age group have been jabbed.
