Canberra Cavalry pitcher Steven Kent knows the sacrifices his family have made to allow him to play the game he loves.

That's why he says a trophy bearing his name is so special.
The Cavalry met the Sydney Blue Sox back in the first game of the modern Australian Baseball League in November 2010 and have competed for the Hume Highway Cup ever since.
Both clubs have agreed to rename the trophy the Kent-Oxspring Cup after two of the country's greats, both of whom started in the game that relaunched the ABL.
Kent was on the mound for the Cavalry during the inaugural game and Chris Oxspring was pitching for Sydney. And both hope to be in action at Narrabundah during the forthcoming series, scheduled to start on January 28.

Kent said it was something special to have his name attached to the Cup.
"My family has sacrificed a lot for me to play this game and get me to this point. My parents and my sister did everything for me that they could as I was coming up through the junior ranks," Kent said.
"As I've gotten older and had a family of my own, Britt and the kids have had to sacrifice a lot of time without me around so that I could continue playing this game I love."
Kent has turned out in 122 regular-season games for the Cavalry and recorded a club-record 355 strike outs in his career, alongside several seasons in the US for the Atlanta Braves and multiple international campaigns for Team Australia.
With the ABL being canned due to COVID for the 2021-22 summer, the Cavalry has arranged home and away series against Sydney and Brisbane to entertain fans over four successive weekends.
