The party's management committee is expected to rubberstamp Jane Hiatt as their candidate to challenge Labor's David Smith in the southern electorate when it meets on Wednesday night.
Liberals sources have told The Canberra Times that Ms Hiatt was the only candidate to nominate for the position.
A local businesswoman, mother-of-four, volunteer and trail running enthusiast, Ms Hiatt ran on the Liberals' Senate ticket at the 2016 federal election and as a candidate in the southern seat of Brindabella at the 2020 ACT election.
She put her hand up to contest Bean for the Liberals at the 2019 federal election, but was beaten by Ed Cocks in a preselection contest.
Labor holds Bean on a margin of 7.5 per cent, meaning Ms Hiatt will face an extremely tough task to wrestle the seat off Mr Smith.
The Liberals last year selected lawyer Nathan Kuster to contest Andrew Leigh's seat of Fenner in Canberra's north.
Kacey Lam-Evans has also been confirmed as Zed Seselja's running mate on the Liberals' Senate ticket.
However, the Liberals are yet to settle on a candidate for the inner-city seat of Canberra with the federal election fast approaching.
The election is due no later than May 21.
The Liberals' management committee is expected to discuss the Canberra preselection process at Wednesday night's meeting.
There could be a preselection contest if multiple people nominate, with a meeting to select the candidate slated for Monday, February 7.
While any Liberal candidate would be a rank outsider to win the seat, party insiders say the position presents a good profile-building opportunity for someone eyeing a run at the 2024 ACT election.
Labor's Alicia Payne holds Canberra with a margin of 17 per cent, making it one of the Opposition's safest in the country.
Mina Zaki ran for the Liberals at the 2019 ballot. Ms Payne will again face a challenge from the Greens' Tim Hollo.
