The Transport Workers' Union has called on the South Australian government to better enforce mask mandates on Adelaide's public buses to stop the spread of COVID-19.

The union says passengers not wearing masks has become all too common and an enforcement program is urgently required.
"This is a fundamental safety issue for the travelling public and our bus drivers," acting branch secretary Sam McIntosh said.
"The public has a right to travel safely and our drivers have a right to go to work and come home safely at the end of each day.
"For our drivers, their bus is their workplace and it must be kept safe."
Under SA's current mask-wearing rules all passengers accessing the state's public transport network must wear a mask.
The rules apply to buses, trains and trams and also extends to other services including taxis and ride-share vehicles.
