1. Canberra Comedy Festival
The laughs continue this weekend as the Canberra Comedy Festival continues its hilarious program. On the bill at the Canberra Theatre is Stephen K Amos, Tony Martin, music act Tripod, Canberra's Chris Ryan and Aaron Chen. Meanwhile, over at The Street, Dilruk Jayasinha, Rhys Nicholson, and Ivan Aristeguieta take to the stage. Over at Verity Lane, Claire Hooper and Emma Holland are bringing the laughs. 2. King Stingray
The triple J Unearthed Artists of the Year for 2021, King Stringray, are bringing their national tour to Canberra. Growing up together in North-East Arnhem Land, founding members Yirra Yunupiu and Roy Kellaway have been playing music together their entire lives. They teamed up Dimathaya Burarrwanga, Campbell Messer and Lewis Stiles, to seamlessly blend Indigenous melodies with surf, indie and funk influences to create their own sound: Yolu surf-rock. 3. Mid-Flight Brawl
Comedians Nick Cody and Luke Heggie are taking time out from their Canberra Comedy Festival gigs to bring their podcast Mid-Flight Brawl to Smith's Alternative. The duo will pore over the sordid details of sky fights while using modern technology to help you to be a part of history. Sunday, 2pm. Smith's Alternative. 4. Ceremony
The National Gallery of Australia launches its fourth National Indigenous Art Triennial, Ceremony this weekend with a program of free performances, premieres, talks, workshops and live music. Among the events throughout the weekend artists Matilda House and Paul Girrawah House, Ngambri-Ngunnawal people will host an in-conversation and viewing of the tree scarring practice on Sunday at 3.30pm. They will celebrate the final marking of this stage of Mulanggari yur-wang (alive and strong) (2020) which the artists have undertaken within the National Gallery's Sculpture Gardens. Saturday, from 10am to 5.30pm. Sunday, from 10am to 4.30pm. Bookings at nga.gov.au.
5. Sky High Tea
QT Hotel's Sky High Tea has returned, bringing with it an offering of mouth-watering treats, served alongside views of Canberra. Executive chef Michael Box and his team are behind savoury treats such as lemon, prawn and spinach loaf, and goats curd and pea mini-tarts. When it comes to sweet, you'll want to save room for the dark chocolate mousse with raspberry and pistachio cracker and mojito cheesecake. Saturday, 11.30am. QT Canberra.
