In another incident, 27-year-old Kock-Kedhia Maker Makoi returned a blood alcohol reading more than five times the limit while driving to get more booze.
On Wednesday, Makoi appeared in the ACT Magistrates Court to be sentenced for escaping from arrest, driving unlicensed, refusing to provide a breath sample and drink-driving in 2020.
She is also being sentenced for driving unlicensed, drink-driving and being in possession of property suspected to be the proceeds of crime in 2021.
In August 2020, police said they pulled Makoi over after identifying the grey Hyundai i30 she was driving as a car suspected to be stolen from a Pialligo Thrifty car rental business.
Police said after pulling over, she pretended to be a backseat passenger before trying to flee on foot.
READ MORE COURTS:
In court documents, police said Makoi tried to "exit the driver's seat and climb into the rear passenger's seat, hurriedly attempting to seat herself between two males".
She was described as being "dishevelled and wiggling around, trying to get seated properly, and did not have a seat belt fastened".
Makoi then complied with police directions to get out of the car telling them her name was 'Mary'.
Police said she was "unsteady on her feet, with watery and bloodshot eyes. She was belligerent and indifferent towards [police], appeared to have difficulty understanding instructions" and smelt strongly of alcohol.
Police said as they moved to collect a breath-testing device from their car, she fled on foot and was chased by officers.
After being handcuffed, Makoi returned a breath test reading of 0.219.
She then refused to take another test at the City Police Station.
An "indifferent" Makoi told police she was driving to a 7-Eleven when she stopped and had drunk "Passion Pop" earlier.
MORE CRIME READS:
In June last year, police pulled Makoi over after what they said was a routine traffic stop in Dickson in November 2021.
"[She] had a strong smell of intoxicating liquor emanating from her person, her eyes were bloodshot and her speech was fast, disjointed and slurred," they wrote in a court document.
Makoi returned a reading of 0.265 at the City Police Station.
"[She] stated she had consumed an unknown quantity of alcohol at a friend's and was travelling to buy more liquor in Dickson. [She] had three passengers in the vehicle when stopped," police wrote.
The sentencing hearing has been rescheduled for May.
