The ACT reported 799 cases in the latest reporting period, this was down from 947 on the previous day. The seven-day rolling average of new cases remains above 1000.

Hospitalisations have risen slightly. There were 45 people in Canberra hospitals in the 24 hours to 8pm on Saturday. There are three people in intensive care and none are being ventilated.

Of the new cases in the ACT, 456 were detected by a PCR test and 343 were detected by a rapid antigen test.

There have been a total of 73,344 cases in the ACT since the pandemic started.

The BA.2 Omicron sub-lineage is likely the most dominant strain in the territory. The ACT's weekly epidemiological report said the sub-lineage was identified as 82 per cent of all sequenced cases in the territory last week.

Only about 10 per cent of the ACT's cases are sequenced.

Based on PCR testing alone, the ACT's test positivity rate last week was 20 per cent.

There were 17,450 new COVID-19 cases reported in NSW on Sunday and one person died with the virus in the 24 hours to 4pm on Saturday.

There are 1171 people in NSW hospitals with COVID and 47 people are in intensive care.

In Victoria, there were 8349 COVID-19 cases and nine deaths, this included a person who was in their 20s. Victoria's Department of Health said the person had significant other comorbidities.

There are 250 COVID-19 cases in Victorian hospitals. There are nine active cases in intensive care and four are on a ventilator.
