The allure of a steam train ride in the country saw special trips for Easter quickly sell out but more trips have been put on for the Anzac Day long weekend.
The Picnic Train, with The Canberra Railway Museum, is running the steam train trips behind former NSW Government Railways locomotive 5917.

The trips will be Canberra to Bungendore return on Saturday, April 23; Sunday, April 24 and Monday, April 25, departing the Canberra railway station each day.
Experience steam locomotive 5917 "working hard as it climbs the steep grade by the spectacular Molongolo River Gorge, through long, dark tunnels and on through beautiful rural countryside to Bungendore".
The 5917 is one of the D59 Class 2-8-2 Mikado steam locomotives used by the NSW Government Railways from the 1950s until the end of steam operations in the 1970s.
