It's one thing to walk through Parliament House, it's another to be able to sit and create your own artwork surrounded by portraits of the prime ministers through the ages.
Kids aged eight to 12 will be able to enjoy something just that special these school holidays.

Two-hour young artists workshops will be conducted at Parliament House on Monday and Tuesday from 10am to noon. Tickets are limited and cost $45.
They will be led by local artist Naomi Zouwer who is also the creative in residence at Ainslie Primary School.

The art materials are supplied for the workshop as Naomi explores portraiture at the House and guides the students through creating their own portrait. As well as soaking in the atmosphere.
"I think it's just a great opportunity to enjoy Parliament House and have a different experience there," she said.
And Naomi, who paints and draws at the M16 Artspace in Griffith, knows how affecting those paintings of the PMs can be.

"I remember my daughter was asked in kindergarten to draw herself in the future and she drew herself as the prime minister because Julia Gillard had been the prime minister and she had seen the portrait," Naomi said.
"I thought, 'Isn't that cool if kids can envisage themselves in that way?'."
Each child will take home the portrait of themselves.
