Australia's national anthem had been changed on this day in 1984, from "God Save the Queen" to "Advance Australia Fair", but before the anthem was changed, the actual song itself had to undergo some changes. The song had some slight alterations made to it, to rid it of any sexist or unwanted language in its verses.
The opening line, which was originally "Australia's sons, let us rejoice" was changed to "Australians all, let us rejoice".

The third verse underwent some changes too, one line changing from "To make our youthful Commonwealth" to "To make this Commonwealth of ours".
The final change was made to the line "For loyal sons beyond the seas" to "For those who've come across the seas".
A government spokesman in Canberra advised that the chosen new words for the anthem were chosen by a committee of public servants.
