The show smashed single-day box office records when tickets went on sale in 2021, and extra performances have already been added to the nine week Sydney season.
The show will then play in Melbourne at the Arts Centre from October.
One of the most successful musicals of all time, Phantom has played to an estimated audience of 140 million people in 39 cities worldwide.
Cameron Mackintosh's new take on the mega-musical features fresh direction and choreography, as well as set, sound and lighting design.
The original production of Phantom played in Australia in 1990.
It tells the story of a deformed genius, played by Josh Piterman in the Australian production, who haunts the catacombs beneath the Paris Opera House, obsessed with his "angel of music" Christine Daae, played by Amy Manford.
The Phantom opens at the Opera House on Friday night.
