Six months pregnant, sitting outside in the hot Jakarta sun, she has just given DNA to a police team.

Her 32-year-old husband Wahyu Adilla and her four-year-old son Xherdan Fachridzi are - barring a miracle - dead.

The pair, along with 187 other souls, were likely killed when Lion Air flight JT610 plunged into the water on Monday morning, soon after take off.

The plane’s manifest listed eight crew members, 178 adult passengers, two babies - and one child.

That one child is likely Xherdan, Putri’s son.

Now her son and her husband are gone, and she is left with the couple’s nine-month-old daughter, their unborn child, her grief and their shattered lives.

It’s almost unimaginable.

While Putri won’t speak, her dead husband’s Aunt, Nona, who has flown with her to Jakarta from Pangkal Pinang to provide DNA consents to an interview.

“Wahyu was my nephew, he and his son flew to Jakarta to watch an under-19 soccer match, he wanted to take his son to watch the game live. They were on their way back to Pangkal Pinang where they lived, his wife Putri was already at the airport to pick them up, because when they boarded the plane Wahyu called and told her. That was their last conversation,” Nona says.

“They had a video call earlier, Xherdan (said he) misses his little sister and his mum, he's not used to being away from his mum."

“When they didn’t arrive she started to wonder, so she went and checked her messages, her friend who saw it on the news told her about the plane supposedly crashing. She was calm enough to confirm the news first, because at first she wasn’t sure it was true, after she confirmed the news, she called us, the family, but she still drove herself home.”

As the aunt speaks, Putri weeps and begins to repeat the name of her husband, “Wahyu, Wahyu” over and over again.

"She flew in yesterday to Jakarta, she had to leave her nine-month-old baby girl in Pangkal Pinang, Xherdan’s little sister."

"She's strong, but after she had people she can lean on, only then did she start crying, every little thing reminds her of her husband and son, how Xherdan loves porridge for breakfast, what Wahyu would do in the morning."

Nona says the family realises that Wahyu and Xherdan are probably gone - Indonesian authorities have already said it is all but certain that no one survived the awful crash - but the family can’t help but hope for a miracle.

"We are still hopeful, she [Putri] is still hopeful of a miracle from Allah, but we also have to be ikhlas [sincere with all of our heart], the highest level of ikhlas at the same time."

Tragically, all of the families of those travelling on Lion Air flight JT610 have to be ikhlas.
