Former US president George Bush Snr, who has been in hospital with a chronic cough since November, has been moved out of intensive care at a Texas hospital.
"President Bush's condition has improved, so he has been moved today from the intensive care unit to a regular patient room at the Methodist Hospital to continue his recovery," the spokesman Jim McGrath said in an email on Saturday.
The former president, 88, has been in the hospital in Houston since November 23 with a bronchitis-like cough.
The senior Bush served as president from 1989 to 1993 and is the father of former president George W Bush, who held office from 2001 to 2009.
