Canberrans will not need to book their visit to an outdoor pool this summer, but Dickson needs extra time to reopen as staff clear out a family of ducks which moves in over winter.

Dickson pool will reopen to the public on November 15, weeks after their typical reopening dates in late October.
Dickson spokesperson Taryn Langdon said the ACT lockdown had delayed staff training and work to get the pool up and running.
Another annual ritual had also been put on the back-burner: moving on the pool's winter residents, who set up shop as soon as the last patrons leave in March.
"[The ducks] know that they can come in for some peace and quiet," she said.
"They don't love it when we suggest they head up the road to the wetlands, but they're our good friends."
MORE COVID-19 NEWS:
Up to 500 customers will be able to visit the pool at any one time by the time Dickson reopened, with capacity limits to rise to 1000 on November 26.
Ms Langdon said Dickson received "significantly more" than 500 customers on a good day, and would operate two daily sessions to ensure bookings were not required.
"We're working very hard on making sure that we provide a safe and wonderful environment for the community," she said.
"We do ask that everyone is patient, kind, and respectful to our staff as we're still managing to operate with some restriction."
Traditional weekly swimming lessons will not run throughout November and December, though the first of six holiday intensive programs will resume in December.
Everything is moving smoothly at Canberra's oldest pool, Manuka, which will also reopen on November 15 after uncertainty over when restrictions would ease.
"We're really excited to be actually able to open. We'll be there and welcoming everyone with open arms," said manager Bryan Pasfield.
Strict capacity limits meant Canberrans have been forced to book ahead for a host of venues across the ACT, as they eagerly returned to restaurants, pubs, and hairdressers after a grueling nine-week lockdown.
But with Manuka's normal capacity at 500 patrons regardless of ACT guidelines, Mr Pasfield said customers should not be concerned about being turned away at the gates.
"If things change, obviously we'll roll with the COVID-plan and the Health Department guidelines. But at this stage we won't have a booking system," he said.
Mr Pasfield said the pandemic had prompted "dramatic" cost planning to keep Manuka Pool running. But with its typical opening for summer in late October, he was thankful for a delay of just two weeks.
"That hasn't affected us a great deal. I'm sure there's people that wanted to get to the pool, but I'm sure that they'll be happy to come in [later] under the circumstances," he said.
"Thankfully it's nearly business as usual for us."
MORE COVID-19 NEWS:
The heritage-listed venue opened in 1931, and underwent a $2 million upgrade in 2019. It featured a paddling pool and playground for children, along with six lap lanes.
Pools were included in the ACT's exit out of lockdown on October 15, but only welcomed back up to 25 swimmers at one time for organised lessons. That capacity will be expanded to 500 on October 29, when changerooms will also open.
Manager John Raut said revenues had declined due to COVID-19, while intrusion from nearby apartment blocks was making customers uncomfortable.
