The incident happened about 5.45am on Adelaide Avenue in Deakin on March 29.
It was dark at the time, with the sun only rising about 7am.
The man is in his 20s.
He was taken to Canberra Hospital with life-threatening injuries.
ACT police called the incident a "serious collision".
Police believe the man was dropped off near The Lodge by a white Toyota sedan about 4.17am.
The driver of that car, which is believed to be a rideshare vehicle, came forward to police on Saturday.
ACT police released a public statement to try and reach the person.
There is no suggestion this driver was involved in the incident at 5.45am.
Police are asking anyone who may have been witnessed the collision, or have dashboard footage, to contact them.
"Police continue to urge anyone else who witnessed the incident, or who may have dash-cam footage from the area at the time of or around the time of the incident, to contact Crime Stoppers," they said in a statement on Saturday.
In a separate incident earlier this month, a cyclist died riding on Lady Denman Drive.
