General duties police had executed a search warrant relating to domestic violence charges at a home in Deakin yesterday.
Police received information that prompted them to obtain a Drugs of Dependence warrant.
They canvassed the local area and widened the search around the property, and soon found a haul of cocaine at a ‘‘concealed location’’.
Over one kilogram of white powder, with a suspected street value of $350,000, was found, as was a ‘‘significant’’ sum of cash.
Detective Sergeant Shane Scott said the seizure was made possible by methodical investigation and help from the public.
‘‘With the help of the public, we searched for and located evidence we strongly suspected was somewhere nearby,’’ he said.
‘‘This is a good example of how a partnership between the community and its police generates useful intelligence, on which police can then act.’’
The alleged offender has already faced court on domestic violence charges.
The 51-year-old will be summonsed to face new charges relating to the seizure tomorrow morning.
Police are expected to oppose bail.
