As dozens of schools honour the tradition of selling beloved democratic snags, a few will go as far as offering an array of stores, live entertainment and a water slide.
Meanwhile, the head of the ACT Electoral Commission does not expect a repeat of the federal election where Canberrans were frustrated with long queues.
If you're looking for a jam-packed election day, Arawang Primary School has organised an impressive Election Fun Fare.
"We'll have a cake stall, a barbecue with bacon and egg muffins in the morning followed by sausages later on," Heather Frisken from the school's Parents and Citizens Association said.
"There'll also be a second-hand book store, a jam stand, and a giant inflatable slide for the kids, which we have never had before. And we'll have a school band playing, some other students busking and a singing group of mums from the school."
Giralang Primary School's P&C president Megan Hemming also hoped the day would be about more than politics at her school's mini fete.
They'll be selling cakes, second-hand goods, plants, homemade crafts, clothes and bags made by parents ... and of course, sausages.
If that's not enough options for Canberra's cake-lovers, Namadgi School in Kambah will be selling a huge range of cakes which parents and students made in a "baking bee".
There is also good news for those growing tired of an election-filled year, uninterested in activities and keen to get the whole thing over with.
ACT Electoral Commissioner Phillip Green doubted queues would be an issue due to a larger portion of pre-poll votes submitted by Canberrans for the state election than the federal one, and their needing to only fill out one ballot paper.
"We also have very efficient electronic polls in our polling places so we can deal with the votes quicker than the federal election," he said.
"And we are making sure we have extra staff so that we don't have queues."
Mr Green said it was too difficult to predict which polling places would be the busiest because they were evenly spread across Canberra, but he expected certain times to be quieter than others.
"It will be a nice day, which usually means people will get up early to vote and make the most of the day in the afternoon," he said.
Polling booths will be open between 8am and 6pm on Saturday.
