The federal government cut funding from the Environmental Defenders Office in 2014, threatening its ability to advocate and provide legal advice on the environment to the Canberra community.

The Greens called on the ACT government to restore funding to the group during the federal election, claiming it only needed $130,000 to continue operating.

Labor would also commit $100,000 for a consumer energy advocate and provide $800,000 over four years for community groups to tackle local environmental issues.

The commitments came amid a flurry of announcements with the election less than two weeks away.

The Canberra Liberals have turned attention to the ACT public service, pledging to ensure 100 per cent workplace flexibility in a bid to improve "women's real choices and career connectedness"

The party would create a small unit to assist departments with cultural change and foster "a welcoming culture for pregnant women and breastfeeding mothers who return to work".

Labor's $750,000 arts grant program would provide $400,000 over four years for the Design Canberra Festival and $150,000 for the Kulture Break program.

ACT Chief Minister Andrew Barr confirmed the Art not Apart festival in Acton would continue to receive funding with $130,000 committed from 2017-18.

Festival organisers targeted Mr Barr last month when it discovered the Land Development Agency had cut the event's funding. He said he was not consulted about the decision and would restore funding.

"Art, Not Apart is a key part of ACT Labor's arts agenda and reinforces our long-term ambition to be an internationally recognised centre for art," he said.

The ACT Greens have continued to focus on housing affordability calling for the "Nightingale housing model" to be brought to Canberra; a policy canvassed at its campaign launch.

The housing model would reduce the cost of development for housing and require buyers to resell their property for the cost price, plus inflation.

The party also called on the Liberals to match its funding commitments for LGBTI support services and criticised the federal government's proposed same-sex marriage plebiscite.

Greens candidate Veronica Wensing said she was not surprised to learn suicide hotline Lifeline had recorded an increase in calls related to the plebiscite.

"As a lesbian and a member of the community that the Liberal government's plebiscite targets, I am not surprised that LGBTI Australians are experiencing distress, discrimination and pain in response to the proposed plebiscite," she said.
