Police use of Tasers is likely to expand significantly in the ACT, after Labor pledged it would cover the costs of equipping all front-line police with the weapons.

Both major parties now support giving Tasers to officers below the rank of sergeant, while the Australian Federal Police appears to be actively pursuing a wider rollout.
The move is likely to draw the ire of civil libertarians, who have already expressed concerns that Tasers are not being used as a "second-to-last resort".
ACT Policing first gave Tasers to front-line police in 2011, but restricted their use to front-line sergeants only. It was hoped that keeping them in the hands of more experienced officers would prevent misuse.
But Labor will announce on Tuesday that, if re-elected, it would give $2.7 million over three years to the AFP to equip all ACT police with Tasers.
The Liberals have been calling for Tasers to be given to all front-line personnel in the past two years, as has the Australian Federal Police Association.
Police Minister Simon Corbell rejected the Liberals' proposal in 2014, saying that handing Tasers only to front-line sergeants struck the right balance.
"That, we think, is a sensible, middle-of-the-road approach that makes sure Tasers are available, but not in a way that potentially can lead to an escalation of the unnecessary use of that technology," he said at the time.
Ultimately, it will be up to ACT Policing to decide how widely Tasers will be used.
But it appears the force is readying itself for expanded use of the device, with the AFP's executive leadership committee recently endorsing a plan to issue Tasers to all of its officers, according to Labor.
A Labor spokeswoman said the funding would help purchase the additional devices, provide specialist training, and implement governance and reporting arrangements.
"This commitment will ensure that, should ACT police determine they require the full rollout of Tasers to all serving officers, a re-elected ACT Labor government will deliver $2.7 million over three years for the purchase of the equipment."
The Commonwealth Ombudsman examined ACT Policing's use of Tasers in 2012.
The watchdog found police used Tasers 31 times in eight months, discharging them three times, drawing 12 times, and aiming at someone 16 times.
It found police had attempted to negotiate or de-escalate a situation in only 12 of 27 cases before drawing, aiming or using the Taser.
Tasers were deployed 12 times against mentally ill Canberrans, seven of whom were armed.
In 2012, a year after they were handed to sergeants, ACT Policing announced it would attach video cameras to Tasers.
Labor says Tasers given to police below the rank of sergeant would also require the fitting of video cameras.
Also on Tuesday, the Canberra Liberals will announce they will provide $15 million for stage two of the expansion of the Belconnen Arts Centre.
The centre has been lobbying the government to commit to further works, which would transform it into a multimillion-dollar lakeside live performance venue.
The Liberals also announced $750,000 for two new arts administrators to develop a long-term arts strategy.
More than $200,000 would be provided to set up a Canberra arts awards, while the Liberals have confirmed they would give $100,000 to the Canberra Area Theatre awards.
Shadow arts minister Nicole Lawder said the Liberals' funding package would help the arts thrive in the ACT by improving infrastructure and creating "incentives for excellence".
The Greens on Tuesday are set to announce another element of their transport package, an investment of $60 million in walking and cycling infrastructure.
The money would be used to invest in separated cycling facilities and improving connections to "key local destinations such as schools, shops and community facilities".
