A threatening phone call forced the evacuation of two ACT courts on Thursday afternoon, police say.

The ACT Magistrates Court and ACT Supreme Court were evacuated shortly after 1.30pm as a precaution, an ACT Policing spokeswoman said.

It is unclear what kind of threat was received but police were investigating the "veracity" of the call, she said.
The bomb squad arrived at the court a short time later.

Cases were cancelled for the rest of the afternoon and workers were sent home.
