Classic Constructions, MMM Interiors, Creative Building Services and Archertec Interiors, and Today's Homes and Lifestyle took out five of the 20 awards at the Housing Industry Association and CSR event, held at the Brisbane Convention and Exhibition Centre.
The annual awards showcase the talents of the nation's top builders and designers in creating homes, kitchens and bathrooms. Winners are selected from a list of state-based finalists.
HIA ACT southern NSW regional executive director Neil Evans said it was a fantastic result for the ACT and showed the quality of the work compared to other locations in Australia.
"I guess what it says is we might be a smaller industry compared to Sydney, Melbourne, Perth and the like but to take out that many awards just goes to show the quality and design in the ACT is well ahead of other major cities," he said.
"It's an outstanding result for the ACT."
Classic Constructions took out the award for best display home for the "Aston" in Yarralumla, MMM Interiors won the bathroom design category and the Today's Homes and Lifestyle team was awarded the best professional small/ renovator builder. Creative Building Services and Archetec Interiors took out awards in joint entries for the best bathroom and kitchen of the year.
HIA managing director Shane Goodwin said the event was the pinnacle awards program for the residential building industry and this year had produced some creative and innovative projects.
Home of the Year, considered the top accolade of the night, went to Tasmanian builder and designer Cave Constructions and Clever Designs, who also picked up the best custom built home.
