A 46-year-old Canberra woman has died after a car accident in Tasmania on Thursday morning.

The collision occurred just before 9.15am on the Bass Highway near Carrick, heading east-bound.
A Holden Astra, driven by the ACT resident, hit the rear wheel of a semi-trailer heading in the opposite direction. Her car swerved onto the wrong side of the road and collided head-on with a Holden Commodore.
The woman died at the scene, while another 55-year-old man was taken to hospital with serious injuries.
The driver of the semi-trailer was not injured.
